WaterProofing

As two sides of a coin, Waterproofing on one hand is the most important aspect of construction and on the other hand it has been overlooked significantly, which result into damages of concrete, steel & expensive interiors and at the end spending huge amounts for repairing the wear and tear caused by water seepages.

Common practice:

It has been noticed that people rely on Brick-bat coba (roda) on the slab of terrace for waterproofing of a structure or in order to protect the structure from water seepages.

Consequences:

Later on after insight observation it is revealed that the performance of Brick-bat depends upon two major factors.

  1. Quality of material used for Brick-bat coba
  2. Skillful workmanship

Running with the time and due to cut-throat competitions in the market of cement and bricks, the quality of both has been compromised a lot inorder to maintain minimum profit margin despite of rising cost of raw materials and even the supply of skillful labour for brick-bat is on declining path day by day and all these factors have seriosuly affected the performance of Brick-bat coba.Even if a single factor out of both mentioned above remains unfulfilled, Brick-bat coba will not perform at its best.

Now, there are some more factors besides the two mentioned above , which needs to be understand for low performance of Brick-bat coba as a waterproofing solution.

  1. Cracks Formation - Cracks are formed on the upper surface of brick-bat coba due to lack of proper compaction or lack of proper curing and most important Cement cannot withstand uv rays which sometimes results into main reason for crack formation. Water starts penetrating through these cracks into the bricks laid for brick-bat coba.
  2. Acts as water reservoir - As we know, bricks do not create entry barrier for water seepage itself, infact it absorbs the water. Now what happens when a brick is saturated to its full extent? It definitely will not absorb more water resulting into flowing of extra water into concrete slab and thus water penetrates into the slab through the cracks in concrete thus, damaging steel and structure.
  3. Heavy weight - As the weight of the saturated bricks is more than the unsaturated bricks which results into increasing unnecessary passive load onto the structure which could have been avoided. This infact, worsen the condition of structure with developing more cracks and lessen the healthy life of a structure.

Conclusion:

Brick-bat coba if applied can only be useful for maintaining the slope on the upper surface to ensure uninterupted flow ofrain water into drains or rain water pipes.

Galvanized Sheet / Asbestos Sheet / Composite panel

The leakages from the gaps or cavities of roofs are usually found in large structures like factories, industries or institutions. It happens due to overlooking a point of waterproofing during installations of galvanised roofs or acp sheets in the exterior area which is directly exposed to rain water during monsoon.

Common practice:

It has been noticed whenever water leakes from the open joints between galvanized roofs and walls or even acp sheets and wall that people manages to make vata with polymer mortar

Consequence:

However it is not going to be helpful, even if it does is only for one season and again you need to take a call for waterproofing in next season.

Cause:

The reason is cement does not bond to galvanized metals neither to acp sheets even if you add additives and most of the times galvanised mettalic roofs have to withstand heavy vibrations due to air travel, running machinery and sometimes even due to human trafficking which lessen the bonding properties between both substrates and as we know cement does not resist uv rays which results in formation of cracks into vata which winds-up the application with water seepage and damaging the structure along with interiors.

Conclusion:

It is more wise not to waste either time or money for like above mentioned practices as Indian market is developed enough for today with products mainly suitable for such practices and we have wide range of these products + solutions to handle such leakages with much ease and experience resulting into longlasting protection against water seepage + peace of mind.

Terrace Waterproofing

Terrace Waterproofing

title

Terrace is the most critical segment of a building, and it is exposed to direct atmospheric variations, severe rainfalls and structural variations caused thereby. So every effort should be taken at the design stage to ensure that a proper waterproofing system has been integrated. It has often been found that the economic solution is not always the best solution. So, the system, which assures maximum protection, should be selected even though it may cost little more.

Whether it's renovation or new construction, waterproofing is necessary for any type of bathroom or wet area, in order to protect the structure from damaging and to maintain the longevity of the building.

Terrace Garden Waterproofing

Terrace Garden Waterproofing

title

It should be the first step of terrace garden construction as it protects the roof from leaking. Waterproofing covers up the entire surface of the terrace, most importantly those spots where the plants will be planted. It is extremely necessary to use anti-root waterproofing system for terrace gardens in order to protect the structure from the damages caused by root penetration over a period of time.

Swimming Pool Waterproofing

Swimming Pool Waterproofing

title

Swimming pools are a leisure option these days. However, they are required to be well maintained in order to avoid leakages.

Factors that can lead to leakages are:

  1. Shrinkage cracks that appear during the concrete curing process.
  2. Lack of waterproofing barriers between the pool water and concrete wall.
  3. Cracks that appear in joints, over time.
  4. Failures in plumbing and suction lines.
  5. The formation of honeycombs during the concreting process, which weaken the structure.
  6. Use of low quality tile grout instead of epoxy tile grouts in the joints of mosaic tiles.
  7. Lack of care for the gaps inbetween pool lights and concrete wall.
Podium Waterproofing

The concrete surface of podiums is expected to withstand the stress of being exposed to different atmospheric conditions, along with gardens, landscapes, walkways and heavy vehicular movement causing increased vibrations. Thus, in order to attain durability of the structure and protection against leakage, waterproofing system should be flexible, durable and of high quality.

Underground Watertank Waterproofing

Underground Watertank Waterproofing

Underground water tanks are easy target for water ingress from external sources like surrounding soil as well as soluble salts can infiltrate the tank if not properly waterproof. Our aprehend waterproofing solutions can keep your structure free from any harmful chemical attack.

Overhead Watertank Waterproofing

Overhead Watertank Waterproofing

title

Overhead water tanks are many a times prone to cracks due to climatic variations, vibrations and lack of proper compaction of concrete which leads to leakage through those cracks and the water from these tanks can enter the slab, beams, columns or brick work of the total building and can cause severe damage to the structure. Hence, it is necessary to prevent such leakage and to ensure durability of the structure by using our tailor made waterproofing systems.
